In Loving Memory of Rex
2018 – September 15, 2026
Our family was blessed with Rex in the most unexpected way.
One day, I stopped at Parker's to get gas and came across a mama dog with several puppies wandering around. It appeared that they had been dumped, and with a busy four-lane highway nearby, I was afraid they were going to be hit. I tried to gather the mama and her puppies and get them into my vehicle so I could take them somewhere safe.
I managed to catch one little puppy. When I turned around, the mama and the rest of her puppies were crossing all four lanes of traffic. Then they disappeared. I searched and searched for them, but I was never able to find them again.
So I brought that one little puppy home.
I named him Rex.
I hadn't planned on keeping him, but Rex had other plans. ️ It didn't take long for that sweet, lovable little puppy to work his way into our hearts and become part of our family.
Rex grew up surrounded by other rescued animals, and he even learned to love the cats. For the next eight years, he knew what it meant to have a home, a family, and people who dearly loved and cared for him.
I may have thought I rescued Rex that day, but what I didn't know was just how much love, companionship, and happiness he would bring into our lives in return.
On September 15, 2026, we had to say goodbye to our sweet boy. Our time with him will never feel like it was long enough, but I am so thankful that the little puppy I picked up beside that highway got to spend his life knowing he was safe, wanted, and deeply loved.
Rex's story didn't begin with us, but I'm so grateful that his journey led him to our family.
Run free, sweet Rex. No more sickness and no more pain. Until we meet again at the Rainbow Bridge, you will be loved, missed, and remembered every single day.
