My family adopted Sam (originally Samuel L. Jackson) around 2008-2009, alongside his grey brother John Travolta (what can I say, Pulp Fiction was awesome). After his brother passed, Sammy became our sole family cat, lovingly and gently doted on. When I moved out into the world, Sammy came under my guardianship, and watched me grow into the man I am now! Sammy's favorite things in the world were cuddles with his family, catnip, getting his fur brushed, soothing music, long naps, sitting outside in the sun, and meat! Sammy could tear up with the best of the carnivores! I always had to keep my dinner out of his reach (but of course treated him from time to time). Over the course of his long, eventful life, Sammy saw many new places and made many new friends- like his second daddy Andrew (who gave him his favorite name "Bubby") and "sister" cat Uma, who loved to equally annoy and love on Sam for many years (but mostly love). Sammy had a quiet, seemingly stoic nature about him, but in actuality was one of the sweetest and gentlest cats ever. He never met a human he didn't like! I spent so much time with Sammy, he almost seemed human himself. Although he couldn't speak (but could meow and purr quite elegantly), Sammy had a sensitive empathy that always shone when anyone around him was feeling sad or unhappy, snuggling right up to them and emitting a calming energy. It almost seemed as if he had an ancient soul that radiated tranquility and healing. Sammy will be dearly missed and live on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched in his seventeen years on Earth. |
